Regional Series Gewurztraminer Hunter Valley 2019

A wine that is much easier to drink than it is to say but that’s what it is all about, right?
Fresh lychees, aromatic musk sticks and spicy cardamom aromas are all jammed in there and simply burst from the glass and into your nose.
The palate is very soft and supple with just a hint of residual sugar to balance the palate and create an exceptionally juicy wine. On the finish there is a fresh burst of flavoursome florals that leave the palate fresh and clean. Made to be enjoyed in it’s youth
The wine craves a bit of fiery spice. Try it with a spicy fish red curry on a bed of aromatic jasmine rice. This is when that slight touch of sweetness comes into play.

Black Label DPJ Chardonnay 2018

An icon of the Glandore stable and from a generous 2018 Vintage this will be a wine for now and tomorrow.

Showing a bright straw hue and a complex nose of fresh French oak, white peach, cinnamon, hints of delicate florals and tease of a bouquet garni. The palate now is compact and tight with fantastic length but as this wine ages you will see its generosity open up with richness and depth. A lemon butter zest and stone fruits drive the palate and linger on for a long time.

This complex wine needs maybe a complex food match. We suggest a Chicken Tagine with preserved lemon and olives

Regional Series Chardonnay Hunter Valley 2018

Modern Australian Chardonnay winemaking is all about balance. Each factor has to shine. The fruit, the region and the winemaking all play an important part and should be respected. We fermented around 20% in old French oak to give roundness and body. The remainder of the wine was fermented in stainless steel to keep the wine fresh both on the nose and on the palate. There is about 5% new French oak on this wine but it is just a side note adding a layer of complexity to the freshness.

When we blended the components together we achieved the complexity we wanted from the oak whilst still paying homage to the variety and the wonderful Hunter Valley region. The 2018 Regional Chardonnay from fruit picked on the Glandore property is looking the goods now and over the next several years.
We think silky handmade fettuccine with Chicken Cacciatore accompanied by a rocket and parmesan salad sounds like a pretty good match.

Regional Series Sangiovese Hilltops 2018

Never was a wine made that had a greater affiliation to food than Sangiovese, or as the Italians know it, Chianti.

The wine is a bright ruby red in colour and with fantastic aromas of Maraschino cherries and deliciously ripe raspberries it is an absolute delight. Savoury oak with hints of dark chocolate and subtle star anise & Szechuan pepper notes adds further to the complexity.

The palate is medium bodied and incredibly well structured. The tannins are fine and long and that typical acidity we see with is variety gives and incredible length to the palate. Sweet mid palate raspberry fruits provide a freshness and liveliness to this fantastic wine.

Cured meats like Prosciutto di Parma or San Daniele balance of saltiness, sweetness, and fat – ideal for such a wine. A well balanced duck or venison ragu would also be a great match.

Regional Series Shiraz Hunter Valley 2013

Hunter Valley Shiraz is a unique and special gift to the wine drinking world and this wine is the perfect example of over 150 years of winemaking in the region.

The nose is packed with earthy and savoury characters whilst the red fruit aromas and spicy pepper characters add to the complexity of the bouquet. Aged in new and old French hogsheads, the influence from these barrels is subtle whilst remaining influential.

The palate is a great example of what a fine Hunter Shiraz should taste like. Again the oak provides depth and complexity to the fruit characters of the wine. The generous tannins are well rounded and the medium bodied palate allows for each of these characters to be experienced within the wine.

This wine will age beautifully into the future and will reward those patient enough to tuck away a few for the future.
